IMPACT PREP - 8TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
TEACHING CIVICS & HARD HISTORY
METHODOLOGY
8th Grade Social Studies curriculum is primarily focused on the structure, features, and history of the United States and Massachusetts government, politics, and civics. However, students will learn about the topics through a lens that focuses on historical truths that represent multiple narratives beyond traditionally adopted storylines.
As educators, we are responsible for presenting truth and facts to students that allows them to analyze and apply that information to their work in a thoughtful and meaningful way. Not only will students walk away from 8th grade more knowledgeable about their government and history, but they will also walk away empowered to challenge the status quo and look beyond the narratives of a biased power structure.
